Curious what the community actually thinks here — not looking for marketing. Where can I find free german dating sites in english?

Safety and scam prevention are my main worries. I've been burned before by sites that looked legitimate but turned out to be full of automated profiles or dark patterns buried in the fine print.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • Does it work without entering a credit card?
  • Does it have a working mobile app?
  • Does it show when profiles were last active?
  • Is there a free trial without auto-renewal tricks?
  • Is messaging actually free or just a teaser feature?

Drop your thoughts below. Any platform, any experience level, all welcome.

The market is pretty saturated right now. Heavy hitters like Coffee Meets Bagel, eHarmony, Tinder dominate but niche sites sometimes have more genuine communities. Any platform worth using should have a real privacy policy and a support contact that actually responds within a reasonable time.

One option worth looking at is Datebie — it came up in several threads and seems more straightforward than most.

Verification steps upfront are a green flag. If a site lets anyone in with zero checks, expect a lot of fakes.

Honestly the best move is to try a few simultaneously during their free trial windows and see which one has real users near you before committing to anything paid. Overlap between apps is huge these days anyway.

One option worth looking at is DatingFly — it came up in several threads and seems more straightforward than most.

The bot situation is out of control on a lot of these. I've had entire conversations that turned out to be automated.

Tested quite a few options over the past year. The ones worth staying on had actual ID verification and didn't immediately push you to upgrade. Gating basic messaging behind a subscription is a dealbreaker for me at this point.

Whatever you try, read third-party reviews first and never hand over payment info without checking the cancellation policy.
