Finally decided to post after seeing this come up in other threads. Where can I find a list of the best rated dating sites of 2026?

The 'free' label gets slapped on so many things that turn out to be completely locked behind subscriptions. Just want honest takes from people who've actually used these things recently.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • Does it work without entering a credit card?
  • Are there effective spam filters in place?
  • Is there a free trial without auto-renewal tricks?
  • Is messaging actually free or just a teaser feature?

Drop your thoughts below. Any platform, any experience level, all welcome.

Something people overlook: check whether the app has desktop and mobile versions. Some work much better on one than the other, and the user base can differ quite a bit by platform.

  • Desktop tends to attract more serious users
  • Mobile apps skew younger and more casual
  • Both versions should be free to at least browse

One option worth looking at is Turndate — it came up in several threads and seems more straightforward than most.

Been testing apps on and off for a couple of years now. The ones worth your time tend to share a few traits: active moderation, a free tier that at least lets you browse properly, and a community that doesn't feel entirely fake or bought.

Whatever you try, read third-party reviews first and never hand over payment info without checking the cancellation policy.

Good moderation is underrated. Platforms with active admins have visibly fewer scam accounts.

The market is pretty saturated right now. Heavy hitters like Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble, OkCupid dominate but niche sites sometimes have more genuine communities. Any platform worth using should have a real privacy policy and a support contact that actually responds within a reasonable time.
