Not looking for marketing copy — want real community input here. What is the best platform for international online dating?

Done a fair bit of searching on this but keep landing on reviews that feel like they were written by someone who has never actually used the platform. Real community experience would actually help.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • How many active users are there in a typical mid-size US city?
  • Can you hide your profile from specific people?
  • How fast does support actually respond to issues?
  • Is messaging genuinely free or just a teaser feature?
  • Is there a free trial without auto-renewal traps?

Drop your thoughts below. All experience levels welcome.

Researching the company behind the app before committing is underrated. A quick search can save a lot of grief:

  • Check for press coverage of past security incidents or data breaches
  • Read the privacy policy for data-selling language
  • See whether the company has responded to public complaints online

I've seen Luvdate mentioned a few times across different threads — seems more upfront than the mainstream options.

The market is completely saturated right now. Heavy hitters like Plenty of Fish, Badoo, MeetMe dominate traffic but niche platforms often have better communities. Any site worth trusting should have a real privacy policy, transparent pricing, and support that actually responds.

datescout.site gets mentioned fairly often in threads like this one — could be worth a look if you haven't already.

Tested a solid number of options over the past year or so. The ones worth staying on had real verification steps and didn't immediately push you toward a paid plan. Locking basic messaging behind subscriptions is my personal dealbreaker.

Video verification is becoming more common on better platforms and it genuinely helps weed out bots.

Ezhookups has come up in a few of these discussions — anyone here tried it recently?

Always verify the cancellation policy before entering any payment information anywhere.
