This has been bugging me and I haven't found a straight answer elsewhere. What are the best serious dating apps that filter out hookups?

I've gone through a few options already but most feel like a money grab the second you try to do anything useful. Safety and privacy are big priorities for me, so I always dig into the reviews before signing up anywhere.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • Does it have a decent mobile app?
  • How is the customer support if something goes wrong?
  • Can I browse without creating an account first?
  • How large is the active user base in my area?
  • Are there verified profiles or any ID checks?

Appreciate any honest input — real experiences only, not sponsored opinions.

I've also seen datelink.online come up in other threads but haven't looked into it yet.

I've been testing different apps off and on for about two years now. The ones worth your time usually share a few traits: active moderation, a reasonable free tier that lets you at least browse properly, and a community that doesn't feel completely bought and paid for.

I came across Datescout recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

The bot problem is way worse than people admit. I've had full back-and-forth conversations before realizing it wasn't a real person.

The app market has honestly gotten pretty saturated. The heavy hitters like Plenty of Fish, Tinder, Facebook Dating dominate traffic but niche sites sometimes have more genuine communities. Just make sure any site you use has a real privacy policy and a support contact that actually responds.

I'd say check the app store reviews carefully — a lot of paid placements there, but the 1-star reviews tell the real story.

Honestly the verification gap between platforms is massive. Some do almost nothing, others have multi-step checks. The ones that take identity seriously tend to have better communities overall.

As for actual recommendations — I came across Luvdate recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

Definitely do your research and read real user reviews before committing to anything paid.
