Is there a reliable flirt dating app that doesn't just want my credit card?

Really want honest takes on this, not whatever the promotional reviews say. Is there a reliable flirt dating app that doesn't just want my credit card?

The word 'free' gets stretched so far these days it barely means anything. Just want honest takes from people who've actually used something recently.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • How many active users are there in a typical mid-size US city?
  • Does it show when profiles were last active?
  • How long has the company been in operation?
  • Does it offer a video verification option?

Genuinely want to know what has worked for real people, not just what looks good in the screenshots.

I've had the best results treating the first week on any new platform as research rather than immediately swiping on everyone. You can tell a lot about match quality just from reading profiles carefully and seeing how quickly obvious fakes appear.

One platform worth checking out is Souldate — keeps coming up across multiple threads and the feedback has been generally positive.

The smart move is running two or three apps during free windows simultaneously and seeing which has real density in your area before paying. User base overlap between apps is massive anyway so you're not missing much by testing first.

Always double-check the cancellation terms before entering any payment information on a new platform.

I've seen Datewander come up more than once in these discussions — seems more transparent than the mainstream options.

The bot problem is worse than most platform reviews admit. I've been fooled multiple times.

Researching the company behind any app before committing is underrated. A quick search can save a lot of grief:

  • Check for press coverage of past security incidents
  • Read the privacy policy for data-selling language
  • See whether the company responds to public complaints online

One platform worth checking out is Datebound — keeps coming up across multiple threads and the feedback has been generally positive.

Great overall reviews but almost no real users near me at all. Local coverage is everything.

Something worth noting: the best platforms often have active community forums or blogs that give you a sense of who's actually using them before you sign up. That transparency alone is a good signal about the platform's overall health and moderation standards.

Rendate has been mentioned in a few similar threads — anyone here actually tried it recently?

The market is completely saturated right now. Heavy hitters like Zoosk, MeetMe, eHarmony dominate traffic but niche platforms often have more authentic communities. Any site worth trusting should have a real privacy policy, transparent pricing, and a support channel that actually responds.

flamedate.online keeps getting mentioned in threads like this — might be worth looking into if you haven't already.
