Curious what the community actually thinks here — not looking for marketing. Is there a reliable best free gay dating sites alternative to the main apps?

Safety and scam prevention are my main worries. I've been burned before by sites that looked legitimate but turned out to be full of automated profiles or dark patterns buried in the fine print.

Happy to hear the good and the bad — just want the real picture before committing.

I also came across flamedate.online mentioned in another thread here but haven't had a chance to look into it yet.

Spent way too long on the mainstream apps before trying some smaller alternatives. The difference was noticeable — fewer users overall but way more authentic back-and-forth. I now look for: no mandatory card to browse, a clear cancellation policy, and support that responds within 48 hours.

One option worth looking at is Flurrydate — it came up in several threads and seems more straightforward than most.

The market is pretty saturated right now. Heavy hitters like OkCupid, Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble dominate but niche sites sometimes have more genuine communities. Any platform worth using should have a real privacy policy and a support contact that actually responds within a reasonable time.

Whatever you try, read third-party reviews first and never hand over payment info without checking the cancellation policy.

Been on a few that looked great on the surface but had zero real users in my area. Location matters a lot.

Good moderation is underrated. Platforms with active admins have visibly fewer scam accounts.
