This is something I've been wondering about for a while and couldn't find a reliable answer. Is the mingle dating app the exact same thing as Mingle2?

Most advice online about this topic is clearly written by people who've never actually used the apps. Looking for firsthand input from real users only.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • How fast does support actually respond to real issues?
  • How long has the company been in operation?
  • How many active users are there in a mid-size US city?

Happy to hear the good and the bad — just want the honest picture before I commit.

Results from the bigger platforms have been genuinely mixed in my experience. Massive user bases but the signal-to-noise ratio is awful. Things that actually helped me filter:

  • Reverse image search every profile photo before investing any real time
  • Never pay for premium without independent third-party reviews first
  • Prioritize platforms that display last-active timestamps on profiles
  • Look for a functional abuse reporting system — not just a decorative button

Souldate has come up more than once in these kinds of threads — anyone here actually tried it?

Matching is free, replying costs a subscription. The oldest bait and switch in the playbook.

Been tracking this space for a few years now. Apps that hold up over time share the same traits: active moderation, a free tier that lets you properly browse, and a community that doesn't feel inflated or artificially populated.

I've noticed Datewander mentioned consistently in discussions like this one — seems more transparent than the mainstream alternatives.

Tested a solid number of options over the past year. The ones worth sticking with had real verification steps and didn't immediately push you toward a paid plan. Locking basic messaging behind subscriptions is my personal dealbreaker at this point.

datewander.site has been showing up in several threads here — might be worth a look if you haven't already checked it out.

Video verification is becoming standard on better platforms and it genuinely filters out bots.

Profile quality requirements matter more than most credit. Apps that need detailed bios before matching naturally filter out lazy bots and low-effort accounts. Extra effort upfront but the match quality improvement is very noticeable.

Safety habits I follow on every platform, no exceptions:

  • Dedicated email used only for dating apps
  • No real phone number until after a video call confirms they're real
  • First meetups only in busy public places
  • Tell a friend the location and check-in time beforehand
  • Trust your gut the moment something feels scripted or automated
