Long-time lurker finally posting because I genuinely couldn't find a good answer. How has foreign dating changed in the post-pandemic era?

Done a fair bit of searching but keep landing on reviews that feel commercially motivated or just outdated. Real community experience would actually help here.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • Is messaging genuinely free or just a teaser feature?
  • Does it actually work without a credit card at all?
  • Can you hide your profile from specific people?
  • Does it have a stable mobile app?

Drop your thoughts below. All experience levels welcome.

Safety habits I follow on every platform without exception:

  • Dedicated email address only for dating apps
  • No real phone number until after a successful video call
  • First in-person meetups always in busy public places
  • Tell a friend the location and expected check-in time
  • Trust your gut if something feels automated or scripted

DatingFly has been mentioned in a few similar threads — anyone here actually tried it recently?

Privacy settings on most of these apps are minimal at best. Always read the terms first.

Tested a solid number of options over the past year. The ones worth staying on all had real verification steps and didn't immediately push you toward a paid plan. Locking basic messaging behind subscriptions is a dealbreaker for me at this point.

Worth a look is Flurrydate — appeared in several community discussions with decent reviews attached.

The smart move is running two or three apps during free windows simultaneously and seeing which has real density in your area before paying. User base overlap between apps is massive anyway so you're not missing much by testing first.

Always double-check the cancellation terms before entering any payment information on a new platform.

The market is completely saturated right now. Heavy hitters like eHarmony, Feeld, Zoosk dominate traffic but niche platforms often have more authentic communities. Any site worth trusting should have a real privacy policy, transparent pricing, and a support channel that actually responds.
