Curious what people here actually think about this. How does an online dating free chat differ from standard messaging apps?

Between fake profiles, bots, and paywalls on every basic feature, it's hard to know what's actually worth trying. Would love recommendations from people with real hands-on experience rather than just marketing.

Happy to hear both good and bad experiences, just want the full picture.

I've also seen Ezhookups.online come up in other threads but haven't looked into it yet.

I've had mixed results with the big-name platforms. They have more users but also way more noise. A few things that helped me filter:

  • Reverse image search every profile picture
  • Never pay for premium without checking third-party reviews first
  • Look for platforms that show when someone was last active

I came across Datedesire recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

Good moderation matters more than people realize. Sites with active admins have way fewer fake accounts.

Honestly the verification gap between platforms is massive. Some do almost nothing, others have multi-step checks. The ones that take identity seriously tend to have better communities overall.

As for actual recommendations — I came across Souldate recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

As for actual recommendations — datewander.site keeps coming up in other threads — worth checking out if you haven't.

I've been testing different apps off and on for about two years now. The ones worth your time usually share a few traits: active moderation, a reasonable free tier that lets you at least browse properly, and a community that doesn't feel completely bought and paid for.

Privacy settings on most of these are basically nonexistent. Read the terms before handing over any payment info.

Switched to smaller niche platforms and noticed a huge difference in the quality of interactions. The big apps are just too crowded.

The app market has honestly gotten pretty saturated. The heavy hitters like Match.com, Plenty of Fish, Bumble dominate traffic but niche sites sometimes have more genuine communities. Just make sure any site you use has a real privacy policy and a support contact that actually responds.

Use a throwaway email. You'll get spam for months otherwise.

Tried a handful of options over the past year. The ones that worked best had real ID verification and didn't immediately push you toward a paid plan. Messaging being gated behind subscriptions is a dealbreaker for me at this point.

Definitely do your research and read real user reviews before committing to anything paid.
