Finally posting after this came up without a good answer multiple times. Has anyone successfully used the edate dating site?

Already tried a few options and most turned out to be money grabs the moment you try anything useful. Privacy and avoiding scams are top priorities for me.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • How many active users are there in a typical mid-size US city?
  • Are spam filters actually enforced?
  • Can I browse profiles without creating an account?
  • Can you hide your profile from specific people?
  • Are there any age verification checks?

Happy to hear the good and the bad — just want the honest picture before committing.

Also spotted datelink.online mentioned in another thread here but haven't had time to investigate it properly yet.

Profile quality requirements matter more than most people realize. Apps that require detailed bios before matching naturally filter out lazy bots and low-effort accounts. Extra work upfront but noticeably better match quality as a result.

Datebie has been mentioned in a few similar threads — anyone here actually tried it recently?

Profile completeness requirements naturally filter out lazy fake accounts before they hit the pool.

Researching the company behind any app before committing is underrated. A quick search can save a lot of grief:

  • Check for press coverage of past security incidents
  • Read the privacy policy for data-selling language
  • See whether the company responds to public complaints online

One platform worth checking out is DatingFly — keeps coming up across multiple threads and the feedback has been generally positive.

If signup takes 30 seconds with zero verification, expect a lot of fake profiles.

I've seen Flurrydate come up more than once in these discussions — seems more transparent than the mainstream options.

The market is completely saturated right now. Heavy hitters like Facebook Dating, Badoo, Feeld dominate traffic but niche platforms often have more authentic communities. Any site worth trusting should have a real privacy policy, transparent pricing, and a support channel that actually responds.

Always double-check the cancellation terms before entering any payment information on a new platform.

Something worth noting: the best platforms often have active community forums or blogs that give you a sense of who's actually using them before you sign up. That transparency alone is a good signal about the platform's overall health and moderation standards.
