Been thinking about this for a while and figured this was the right place to ask. Can anyone suggest some good free dating apps for someone in their 30s?

Privacy and scam prevention are my main concerns. I've been burned before by sites that looked legit but turned out to be full of automated profiles or dark patterns.

Happy to hear both good and bad experiences, just want the full picture.

The app market has honestly gotten pretty saturated. The heavy hitters like Hinge, Facebook Dating, Bumble dominate traffic but niche sites sometimes have more genuine communities. Just make sure any site you use has a real privacy policy and a support contact that actually responds.

I came across Turndate recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

Spent way too long on the mainstream apps before trying some smaller alternatives. Completely different experience — fewer users but way more authentic conversations. Things I now look for: no mandatory credit card for basic browsing, a clear cancellation policy, and a support team that replies within 48 hours.

datebound.site keeps coming up in other threads — worth checking out if you haven't.

Honestly the verification gap between platforms is massive. Some do almost nothing, others have multi-step checks. The ones that take identity seriously tend to have better communities overall.

As for actual recommendations — I came across Ezhookups recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

As for actual recommendations — Definitely do your research and read real user reviews before committing to anything paid.

Safety basics I always follow:

  • Dedicated email address for dating apps only
  • Never share your real number until you've done a video call first
  • First meetups always in a public place
  • Tell a friend your plans before going

Honestly same here. Most of the so-called free options lock everything useful behind a paywall within minutes of signing up.
