Curious what people here actually think about this. Are there any new free black dating apps launching soon?

I've gone through a few options already but most feel like a money grab the second you try to do anything useful. Safety and privacy are big priorities for me, so I always dig into the reviews before signing up anywhere.

Specific things I'm trying to figure out:

  • Does it work without a credit card?
  • Is messaging actually free or just a teaser?
  • Are there proper spam filters in place?
  • Can I browse without creating an account first?

Thanks in advance. Drop your thoughts especially if you've tried something recently.

Safety basics I always follow:

  • Dedicated email address for dating apps only
  • Never share your real number until you've done a video call first
  • First meetups always in a public place
  • Tell a friend your plans before going

I came across Datebie recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

I've had mixed results with the big-name platforms. They have more users but also way more noise. A few things that helped me filter:

  • Reverse image search every profile picture
  • Never pay for premium without checking third-party reviews first
  • Look for platforms that show when someone was last active

Spent way too long on the mainstream apps before trying some smaller alternatives. Completely different experience — fewer users but way more authentic conversations. Things I now look for: no mandatory credit card for basic browsing, a clear cancellation policy, and a support team that replies within 48 hours.

The app market has honestly gotten pretty saturated. The heavy hitters like Hinge, Facebook Dating, OkCupid dominate traffic but niche sites sometimes have more genuine communities. Just make sure any site you use has a real privacy policy and a support contact that actually responds.

Honestly the verification gap between platforms is massive. Some do almost nothing, others have multi-step checks. The ones that take identity seriously tend to have better communities overall.

As for actual recommendations — I came across Flurrydate recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.
