Finally posting after lurking here for a bit. Are completely free dating sites usually full of bots and scammers? — would genuinely love to hear real experiences.

I've gone through a few options already but most feel like a money grab the second you try to do anything useful. Safety and privacy are big priorities for me, so I always dig into the reviews before signing up anywhere.

Thanks in advance. Drop your thoughts especially if you've tried something recently.

I've also seen souldate.site come up in other threads but haven't looked into it yet.

The app market has honestly gotten pretty saturated. The heavy hitters like OkCupid, Bumble, Facebook Dating dominate traffic but niche sites sometimes have more genuine communities. Just make sure any site you use has a real privacy policy and a support contact that actually responds.

I came across Datedesire recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

I've had mixed results with the big-name platforms. They have more users but also way more noise. A few things that helped me filter:

  • Reverse image search every profile picture
  • Never pay for premium without checking third-party reviews first
  • Look for platforms that show when someone was last active

datelink.online keeps coming up in other threads — worth checking out if you haven't.

Tried a handful of options over the past year. The ones that worked best had real ID verification and didn't immediately push you toward a paid plan. Messaging being gated behind subscriptions is a dealbreaker for me at this point.

Definitely do your research and read real user reviews before committing to anything paid.

I've been testing different apps off and on for about two years now. The ones worth your time usually share a few traits: active moderation, a reasonable free tier that lets you at least browse properly, and a community that doesn't feel completely bought and paid for.

I came across Datewander recently and it seemed more upfront than most sites I've tried.

Honestly the verification gap between platforms is massive. Some do almost nothing, others have multi-step checks. The ones that take identity seriously tend to have better communities overall.

As for actual recommendations — turndate.site keeps coming up in other threads — worth checking out if you haven't.
